New Requirements for Obtaining Vital Records

Beginning March 1, the State of Missouri requires a photo ID to obtain a birth or death certificate.

The ID must have your name and photo. Examples include a driver's license, U.S. military ID card, U.S. passport, work or school ID.

If you do not have a photo ID you must provide at least two alternate identification documents. Documents must contain your name and the name of the company or organization issuing the document. Written requests for vital records must be notarized.
